Swiss Chocolate Serendipity Smoothie

Swiss Chocolate Serendipity Smoothie

For the most part I like to keep my smoothies very simple, using only fruits and veggies with no added fats.   This smoothie is a decadent, creamy treat that I love to indulge in once in awhile in the winter months when the body is craving something a little heavier. I make it extra thick by using a lot less water, so it's more like a pudding.   Enjoy!

Tailgate Tapioca

Tailgate Tapioca

Funny name, I know!  This recipe was a staple on a road trip i was part of in the summer of 2011.   I was  support vehicle driver and chef for an athlete who was cycling across Canada on a raw food diet!  This yummy and filling recipe is so named because I have pictures of her sitting on the tailgate of the truck eating this..  :)

Xocolatl para Yolotl

Xocolatl para Yolotl

The origin of the word "chocolate" dates back to the times of the Aztec Empire.   Cacao was one of the most prized commodities, and the beans were used as currency as well as for food.   The word "xocolotl" translates to "bitter water", and the Aztecs used to grind the cacao beans together with water, chiles, spices and honey.  The drink was prized for its energizing powers, and was used in rituals.   This recipe was created in the spirit of the original flavour of the drinking chocolate of the Aztecs.   The word "yolotl" is the Aztec word for "heart"....which can also mean love, or a loved one  xoxo
